I’m starting to really like these Android sets that are coming out. Gizmodo brings us the goods on my two current faves: from a few weeks back, the slightly under-powered but oh-so-sexy HTC Legend; and yesterday we got details on Sprint’s 4G HTC Evo. FOUR-G! That’s so much G!

The HTC Legend:

  • Android 2.1
  • 3.2″ AMOLED screen
  • 600 MHz processor
  • ALUMINUM BODY!!! Remember back when nice phones were made out of metal, and they actually FELT like they cost the high price you paid?
  • 5.0 megapixel camera
  • Currently only available in Europe

The HTC Evo:

  • Android 2.1
  • 4.3″ AMOLED screen
  • 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
  • 8 megapixel camera on the back
  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing HD-capable video camera
  • HDMI out (with an adapter)
  • 1 GB of built-in storage. (Seems weird to me. Why so little?)
  • Use it as a hot-spot for up to 8 devices, so all your sad little 3G friends can bask in the awesomeness that is 4G
  • Kick stand for watching videos. Adorable!

If they come out with a gleaming brushed-aluminum version of the Evo, I’m putting my iPhone into retirement. And we can’t forget that the new Windows phones are just over the horizon (but it would be nice to have some more details). AND, we also can’t forget that the new iPhone will probably be announced in late June. But they’ll just add some feature they intentionally left out last time and act like it’s the greatest idea anyone’s ever had. My guess: front-facing camera and video chat. And they’ll act like they invented the idea.

I’m getting jazzed though. The iPhone was so far ahead of the pack when it came out that they’ve been able to just sit on their rich asses for the last 3+ years, so it’s really cool to see some competitors come into the space to challenge Apple. High five to Google and Windows. Good job guys.
