Lost: What They Died For

Lost: What They Died For

Second-to-last episode of Lost EVAR! OMG! While Locke devises a new strategy, Jack’s group searches for Desmond. Finally—a worthwhile pursuit.

So, I have mixed feelings about this show ending. When it was good, it was great, and I even stood by it during the seasons that weren’t that great because I felt like it would definitely build steam while it headed towards the end. Unfortunately, they abandoned almost all science and rational explanation and decided to just make it “Well Jacob and the Smoke Monster are magic just ‘cuz. No real reason. And everything weird that happened was ‘cuz they just wanted it to. The Smoke Monster wanted to kill all the good guys, but you know, he took his time and did some really elaborate shit before getting there.” ALL the Dharma teases were for nothing. There is nothing even remotely scientific about anything that happened the entire time. So bummed. Anyway, discuss tonight’s episode below.

I wanted to drop some Lostpedia knowledge in here but it seems like they pretty much came up empty this week. Nothing subtle about this episode I guess.

Dude, Jack sure stepped up quick to take over Jacob’s job. I thought there’d at least be some discussion about it or something.

Oh, and that Zoe chick sure got what was coming to her….

A little too quick. Between that and Hurley saying he was happy it wasn’t him, I’m not so sure they won’t change things up. Hurley is the only one who can see all the dead people and stuff.

But who knows if there will even be an island left to protect? Something is definitely going to happen between the two realities. But why does Locke want to destroy the island? It’s not like that will send him home somehow. Is Desmond resistant to whatever bad stuff is in the light cave? Maybe he can go in there without turning into a smoke monster or otherwise being killed?

We can assume at some point in the last episode Juliet will show up in the alternate reality and ask Sawyer out for coffee right?

I don’t understand how they’re going to reconcile the two realities without messing things up. But they’ve got 2 and a half hours on Sunday to do something I guess.

I thought they would write it so there was some flaw or conflict in the “real” island world that could only be solved by the realities merging, but as it is, I don’t see why they would need to merge them at all. Everyone’s reasonably OK on Earth-X and Jack is now Jackob and will deal with Smoke Monster. Whatevs.

I was thinking of 2 reasons Locke would want to destroy the island:
    1) It’s the Island that is keeping him trapped there, so if it’s gone, he can get outta there.
    2) The island is basically his hell and has been screwing him over his whole life, and if he can’t escape it, he’d rather just make it all cease to exist.

I forgot about Juliet and coffee, they gotta throw that in. I can’t wait for this exciting concert they are all going to. Desmond seemed like a badass when he was breaking people out of jail. Haha, M Ro back on the scene.

Electromagnetism has gotta be tied to the smoke monster in some way right? Like, that’s how those crazy fences work to keep him out, or do they? How about that ash that they would scatter to keep him away – what gives with that?

Stupid Jacob ruined everything. His mom told him that nobody can go into that light. What a dummy.

So Ben agreed to kill some peeps because Flocke said that Ben could have the island, but then at the end, Flocke tells Ben that he wants to destroy the island. Why would Ben still go along with Flocke then?
